Web Site Functionality and Splash Screens
A splash screen is a page where the designer displays very little content. They display a picture or Flash piece and the only link is "Click here to enter". The idea came from magazines. The problem is web sites are not magazines. In short, DON'T USE THESE! Google hates them and, more importantly, users hate them.
Users have a short attention span. They want to get great information they can trust as quickly as possible. If an agent's home page is a spash screen the user arrives expecting content and they get an image and another click to get what they want instead. Users should be able to get what they want in as few clicks as possible.
The best home page will have a great overall site description that Google likes and a user likes. It will have great navigation and be very professional. It will direct a user straight to their desired info.
